Additional Information: Students will learn basic regulations, operating practices, and electronics theory, with a focus on VHF and UHF applications. Upon passing the Technician Class license, the student will have all HAM radio privileges above 30 MHz. The end result of this class is the student will be prepared to sit and take the formal exam to pass the FCC Element 2 license commonly known as the HAM Technician license. Morse code is not required for this license. Class is being offered through the Ocean County Vocational Technical School and pre registration with the school is required. Registration will open 16 July 2025 @ 0600 am EDT This class uses the Gordon West Technician Class FCC Element 2 Amateur Radio License Preparation 10th Edition 2022-2026 which the instructor will procure from ARRL. While not required, students are encouraged to use the accompanying study guide that will be available for purchase the first evening of class. In addition to material directly related to the technician license, a number of additional class modules will be presented to the student related to additional HAM radio topics a student will need to know to successfully get on the air including how to select, purchase, and program that first HAM radio. Classes will be held at the OCVTS GPAA campus at Ocean County College, Toms River, NJ. Instructor will contact registered students about one week prior to the start of class with additional information and the specific classroom number.
